The Master of the Windows Empire also gave some interesting insight about his position towards the whole DRM thing. He believes Digital Rights Management isn’t really there yet. Here’s his advice so far:
People should just buy a cd and rip it. You are legal then.
Absolutely right Bill. Unless you buy a CD with copy protection where circumventing it would be a violation of the DCMA (Digital Copyright Millenium Act. Plus, I start to take bets on when his publicly voiced view towards DRM’ed music will change. My bet: the very day Microsoft gains a real share in the online music market, competing head to head with Apple. Then he will argue that DRM actually is a good thing. Count on it.
